The Soil and Water Quality research program at Kentucky State University is dedicated to engaging students and faculty in cutting-edge research initiatives. We aim to attract research partners and share valuable findings to contribute to the advancement of environmental studies. Current Project

TITLE: Impacts of contrasting farm practices on water quality over temporal and spatial scales

Delving deep into the intricate balance of soil and water ecosystems, our program, Soil and Water Quality, is committed to advancing environmental sustainability. Our research focuses on understanding the impact of human activities on natural resources. Current project's focus includes studying soil health indicators and water quality parameters to promote conservation efforts.

Graduate Student Defended His MS Thesis

We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Sandeep Airee, a graduate student from the Soil and Water Quality Group, has successfully defended his MS thesis, titled "Impacts of Short-Term Fertility Practices on Soil Health and Water Quality in Kentucky," on April 24th! Congratulations to Sandeep for reaching this major milestone — we are so proud of his hard work, dedication, and achievement!

Graduate Student Received Student Leadership Award

We are excited to announce that Mr. Sandeep Airee has received the prestigious Student Leadership Award. This recognition, awarded by the Director of Student Services, Ms. Keymia Herve, took place during the 2025 Student Farewell Ceremony on April 19, 2025. Sandeep's exceptional contributions as the President of the International Student Scholar Association (ISSA) at KSU have truly made a difference in our community.
